Fishing Report
Moffat has been fishing brilliantly over the past month, with a number of double figure, tagged fished being recorded in the catches. At the beginning of the month the fish were feeding near to and even on the surface of the water, taking flies such as Buzzers, Floating fry and CDC. As we near the end of the month the fish seem to be a little deeper taking Nymphs, Damsels and Zonkers.
Here are a selection of some of the most recent catch returns:
C Davis and friend from Castle Kennedy taken 4 fish and released a further 7 fish. All of the fish were estimated at being around 2 (1/2) - 3lb in weight. The fish were caught on buzzers.
K McIntosh from St Helens taken 2 fish for 5lb on Rabbits. James Miller from Airdrie taken 2 fish for 6lb on a leadhead damsel.
M Johnstone taken 3 fish, with weights of 9lb, 7lb and 2 (1/2)lb.
D Baron from Carlisle taken 4 fish for 11 (1/2)lb, the fish were all taken on buzzers.
K Smith, using his stalking method, managed to land 14 fish including 1 rainbow that weighed an estimated 11 (1/2) lb. Other weights included 6lb, 5lb and 2 (1/2) - 3lb. The fish were caught using a variety of stalking patterns including hares ear, white bugs and pheasent tail nymphs.
